Consulting Firms Tampa – The Evolving Business Landscape

Dec 5, 2019

The Tampa Bay business landscape is changing as the area receives a growing number of accolades for best places for entrepreneurs, women, and the LGBT community to start a new business. It is also home to a diverse set of industries, the military, and employers, as well as the 10th fastest growing area for population increase. These all are positive factors to the professional services industry in that area and, ultimately, consulting firms Tampa.

As a backdrop, the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater Metro Area has a population of over 4 million, according to the Department of Commerce, ranking in the top 20 most abundant in the United States. St. Petersburg and Tampa are both independently listed on Livability.com’s “Top 100 Most Livable Cities in America.”

What’s more impressive is that the Metro area has one of the lesser unemployment rates in the U.S. and one of the lowest cost of living, 8.8% lower than the U.S. average. Additionally, Forbes ranks Tampa, St. Petersburg as #34 Best Places for Business and Careers and #2 best cities for young entrepreneurs.

So who are these businesses, and what is the business landscape of consulting firms Tampa?

The Tampa Bay Business Landscape

In 2014, figures showed that 50+ large companies were employing over 100,000 people, and this number is steadily risking. There are close to 200,000 establishments in the region employing 2 million people, according to the Tampa Bay Partnership.

The area is home to large company headquarters such as Publix, Raymond James Financial, Jabil, Home Shopping Network, and Tech Data. It also has several regional large company employers, including AMEX, Metlife, PWC, Verizon, JPMorganChase, Citi, Wellcare, Beall’s, USAA, SalesForce, and GEICO, Baycare Health System, John’s Hopkins All Children’s Hospital and COX Communications.

The Tampa Bay business landscape is the location of major military installations, MacDill Air Force Base and Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, and Sector Station St. Petersburg. It is also the home of the University of South Florida in Tampa and St. Petersburg campuses, among other higher learning institutions, including St. Pete College, which has over 57,000 active students. These prominent institutions exert a significant amount of influence on the area while also leading the field in medical and high technology research and development.
